Hoyas have three-game winning streak snapped
New Orleans, La. (Dec. 4, 1999) -- The Georgetown women's basketball team fell to unbeaten Tulane on Saturday, 72-62. The game was closer than the score indicated, as there were 21 lead changes in the game. The Hoyas led by one, 48-47, before the Green Wave (5-0) scored eight-straight points to take the lead for good. The loss evened Georgetown's record at 3-3.
Junior Katie Smrcka-Duffy (Sterling, Va./James Madison) led Georgetown with 23 points and nine rebounds. She had 17 of her points in the first haIf. It was her fourth-consecutive game with at least 20 points. Junior Nathalie Bourdereau (River Ridge, La/Ridgewood Prep), playing in her home town of New Orleans, added 12 points, 10 of those coming in the second half. Lesley Walker (Silver Spring, Md./Wheaton) scored eight points and had six rebounds.
Janell Burse led Tulane with 23 points and 14 rebounds. Grace Daley scored 20 points and had four steals. The Green Wave shot 42 percent in the game from the field.
Georgetown returns home on Monday when they host Sacred Heart at 7 p.m. in McDonough Arena.
