Georgetown Women Defeat Sacred Heart, 82-54


Hoyas score 19-straight points to seal the win

Washington, D.C. (Dec. 6, 1999) -- Freshman Nok Duany (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington North) came off the bench to score 16 points as the Georgetown women's basketball team defeated Sacred Heart, 82-54. Duany was 7-for-8 from the field and had 10 of her 16 points in the first half as the Hoyas improved to 4-3 on the season.

With the Hoyas leading, 21-20, Georgetown broke the game open with a 19-0 run late in the first half. The Pioneers (2-4) were unable to cut the lead to single digits the rest of the way.

Junior Katie Smrcka-Duffy (Sterling, Va./James Madison) led the Hoyas with 17 points. Senior Danielle Hurley (Commack, N.Y./Commack) added 12 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore Lesley Walker (Silver Spring, Md./Wheaton) had a career-high nine assists, while freshman Santia Jackson (Chicago, Ill./The Latin School) grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds.

The Hoyas open their BIG EAST schedule on Thursday when they travel to Jamaica, N.Y. to face St. John's at 7:30.
