The Georgetown University women's soccer team was defeated by BIG EAST Mid-Atlantic rival West Virginia, 3-1, in Morgantown on October 25. The Hoyas end their season with an overall record of 8-9-2, and a BIG EAST record of 2-4-1. The Mountaineers end their regular season at 15-4-0 overall, and 3-3-0 in the BIG EAST.
The Hoyas grabbed the early lead, when freshman midfielder Jen Choiniere (Merrimack, N.H./Bishop Guertin) netted her eighth goal of the year. She connected at 16:38, heading in a pass by freshman midfielder Alyssa Conlow (Allentown, N.J./Hamilton). Georgetown led at halftime, 1-0.
In the second half, West Virginia came to life. At 49:08, Katie Barnes got the Mountaineers on the board, converting a penalty kick. Megan Sheehy scored next at 86:58, off an assist from Vanessa Heppeler. Barnes scored the final goal of the game at 88:11, sealing the victory for West Virginia.
Junior goalkeeper Shereena Chang (Miami, Fla./Ransom Everglades) tallied five saves for the Hoyas, while Haire had two saves for the Mountaineers.
