Hoyas Close Regular Season With a Win vs. West Virginia


GU Holds West Virginia to Nine Second-Half Points in 76-47 Victory

WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 29, 2000)-- Georgetown's Katie Smrcka-Duffy (Sterling, Va./James Madison) scored 27 points and Nathalie Bourdereau (River Ridge, La./Ridgewood Prep) added 20 points as the Hoyas defeated West Virginia, 76-47 on Feb. 29. The Hoyas ended the regular season with a 16-11 record and a 9-7 mark in the BIG EAST Conference.

The Hoyas trailed by one at the half, but held the Mountaineers to just nine points and 12 percent shooting in the second half. The Mountaineers made just three of 26 attempts in the half. Georgetown shot 48 percent in the game and outrebounded the Mountaineers, 42-24.

In addition to her 27 points, Smrcka-Duffy handed out eight assists and grabbed seven rebounds. She was also 5-for-8 from 3-point territory. Bourdereau scored 14 of her 20 points in the first half and was 10-15 from the floor in the game.

Georgetown opens the BIG EAST Championship on Saturday when they face Syracuse at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Connecticut. Game time is at 2 p.m.
