Washington, D.C. (March 15) - Andy Flick (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) scored three goals and had three assists as Georgetown improved to 4-0 with an 18-7 win against Butler.
The fourth-ranked Hoyas trailed 1-0 early, but scored the next five goals to open up a 5-1 lead. Butler (1-3) cut the lead to 6-4, but that was as close as they would get as the Hoyas scored the next seven goals to put the game away. The Hoyas outshot the Bulldogs 59-34 and dominated in the faceoff circle. Georgetown won 21 of the 27 faceoffs on the day.
Senior attackman Scott Urick (Sr., Fairfax, Va./Robinson) led GU with four goals. He now has a team-high 13 goals this season and has 112 in his career. Urick scored three times in the first 10 minutes of the game. Flick set up two of those goals. Urick and Flick combined for 11 points on the day. Midfielder Mike Henehan (Jr., Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) added three goals, while Peter Velepec (Sr., Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) chipped in with a goal and three assists.
Mike Regan (Loudonville, N.Y./CBA) and Matt McSweeny (Worthington, Ohio/Worthington) each scored three times for Butler, while Ryan Ward (Victoria, British Columbia/Mt. Douglas) had a goal and an assist.
GU goalkeeper Scott Schroeder (So., Summit, N.J./Summit) recorded 12 saves in goal. Marc Ferrandino (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) had 21 saves in a losing effort for Butler. The Hoyas will host UMBC on Sunday, March 19 at Kehoe Field. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m.
