The Hoyas won on 11/24/01, defeating Towson 91-40 in the first game of the John Thompson Classic at McDonough Arena. After trailing in the opening four minutes, Georgetown established a lead and never looked back. Kevin Braswell paced all scorers with 21 points. He also had 7 assists and 4 steals, moving him to within 90 steals of the NCAA all time career leader. Gerald Riley contributed 14 points while adding 6 rebounds, a career high 5 assists and a career high 4 steals. Victor Samnick added 13 tallies while leading the team in rebounding with 8 caroms. Wesley Wilson scored 12 points and had 4 blocks. Courtland Freeman rounded out the Hoyas in double figures with 10 points and 3 rejections.
