The Hoyas took a win into their exam period, beating the Bears of Morgan State by a score of 91-65 on 12/10/01. Mike Sweetney set a new career high on the way to his tenth double-double as he led all scorers with 30 points and all rebounders with 13 boards. Mike also had 4 blocks for the game. Wesley Wilson added 18 points, Kevin Braswell chipped in 13 and freshman Harvey Thomas set new career highs as he rounded out the quartet of Hoya double figure scorers. Harvey scored 12 points, ripped down 7 boards and had a pair of blocks.

The Hoyas had their hands full in the early going, where a scrappy Morgan State team refused to back down. After 7 ties, the Hoyas began to play to their strength (primarily Mike and Wesley in the paint) and eventually built an 11 point lead. The score at intermission was 39-30.

In the second half the Hoyas got some more balanced scoring as well as greater defensive pressure which eventually undid the Bears. Georgetown shot 47.9% from the field while holding Morgan State to 36.2%. The Hoyas forced 19 turnovers while giving up a dozen and won the battle of the boards 51-39. The Bears were whistled for 27 fouls to the Hoyas 12.
