The match began with the doubles competition where the winner of two of the three doubles matches would gain a team point. The Hoya tandem of Caroline Marshall (Jr., Pittsford, N.Y./Harley) and Hadley Muckerman (So., St. Louis, Mo./MICDS) demonstrated a solid doubles attack but fell 8-3 at #2 doubles to Lourdes Riusech and Kristina Georgieva. GU's Jordan Botjer (Fr., Miami, Fla./Ransom Everglades) and Julie Hom (Sr., Newton, Mass./Newton South) lost their doubles match at the #1 position to Regan Campbell and Lauren Martin also by an 8-3 score. The #3 doubles match saw Lara Madonia (Fr., Ramsey, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) and Lindsey Manwell (Sr., Orinda, Calif./Miramonte) fall 8-0 to Jacqueline Hagen and Irina Bovina. With the victories in the three doubles matches American scored one team point.
The singles competition then began as #1 through #4 singles matches took the court with American holding a 1-0 lead. Madonia fell to Bovina 6-3, 6-1 at #3 singles. Botjer fell 6-3, 6-1 to Hagen at #2 singles. Muckerman fell 6-0, 6-3 to Riusech at #4 singles. Marshall fell 6-3, 6-3 at #1 singles to Campbell. The #5 and #6 singles matches were then sent out. Hom fell 6-1, 6-2 to Georgieva at #5 singles and Manwell fell 6-1, 6-0 to Martin.
