Team selections were released today for the BIG EAST Conference Women's Tennis Championship to be held April 20-22, 2001 at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla. Georgetown was not selected to compete in the Championship. The selections and seedings that were determined:

#1 Notre Dame plays the winner of #4 Virginia Tech and #5 Syracuse.

#2 Miami plays the winner of #3 Boston College and #6 West Virginia.

The quarterfinal losers will play for 5th place, while semi-final losers will play for 3rd place. The championship match is scheduled for 12 noon Sunday April 22.

This year marks the first time that Georgetown has not qualified for the BIG EAST Championship since the inception of the BIG EAST Women's Tennis Championship in 1982.
