Georgetown Student Wins Car

February 25, 2002  Kevin Turpin II will be presented with the keys to a new 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier at halftime of the Georgetown-Rutgers game on 3/2/02. Turpin, a Freshman in the College, hit a lay-up, a free-throw, a 3-pointer and a shot from mid-court in less than 25 seconds to win the GM Scholarship Challenge on February 19.

The GM Scholarship Challenge awards money to the University?s General Scholarship Fund based on the contestant?s ability to hit a lay-up ($100), free throw ($500), 3 pointer ($1000) and half court shot ($5000) within 25 seconds.

This marks the second time a Georgetown student has won a car. In 1996 Ryan Dicks hit a half court shot for an automobile.
