3/2/2002  Georgetown (18-10, 9-7) won its final home game of the 2001-2002 season on 3/02/02, defeating Rutgers (18-11, 8-8) by a score of 88-69. Senior Kevin Braswell gave an incredible final performance, setting a career high by tying Charles Smith?s 1988 record at Georgetown for assists in a game with 16. Already Georgetown?s all time steals leader, Kevin also became Georgetown?s all time assist leader when he dished out his eighth of the game to pass Joey Brown?s total of 677. The assist and steals leader had a double-double as he scored 18 points including 4 of 7 from beyond the arc, grabbed 4 boards and only turned the ball over once.

 Tony Bethel led Georgetown?s scoring with a career high of his own, pouring in 21 points. Wesley Wilson contributed 16 tallies and 8 boards to GU?s totals while setting  a career high in blocks with 7 rejections. Mike Sweetney paced the Hoyas? rebounders with 9 boards while scoring 14 points.

Forty seven seconds into the game the Hoyas established a lead which they would never relinquish. A 15-2 run gave Georgetown its largest lead of the half (16, 38-22) but the Knights cut the differential back to 8 (42-34) by intermission.

 In the second stanza the Hoyas shot a torrid 56.7% while holding Rutgers to 37.9% from the field. GU pushed the lead into double digits and kept it there for most of the half.  Kevin Braswell?s consecutive treys put the victory away for the Hoyas.

 For the game, Georgetown won the battle of the boards 39-36 and shot 50.8% to Rutgers 38.7% from the field.
