WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Georgetown University women's basketball head coach Patrick Knapp has announced that Leslie Tyburski (Hammond, Ind./Gavit) has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Georgetown next season.
Tyburski is a 5-10 guard and is the all-time leading scorer in Gavit High School history, scoring 1,367 points during her four-year career. As a senior she produced 19.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, four steals and three assists per game. At the end of the 2001-02 season Tyburski was named First Team Top 25 by Midwest Sports Publishing, Region Roundball Review 4A-3A First Team All-Region and was selected as a Top Senior by Central Indiana Sports. She is a four-sport athlete at Gavit and was an Honor Roll student all four years.
"Leslie will add to our guard core next season, bringing with her a strong work ethic, a real nice long distance shot and a hustling style of defense. She is an outstanding student and a leader in the community. She will fit very smoothly into our Georgetown community," commented Coach Knapp.
Tyburski is the third newcomer for the Hoyas next season. GU also signed Carmen Bruce (Pittsburgh, Pa./Schenley) and Narumol Berggren (Stockholm, Sweden/ Vasalundgymnasium (Seminole Community College)).
