Women's Basketball Renews Rivalry with GWU

The Skinny on the Game:
Starting 7-1 for the first time since the 1996-97 season, Georgetown renews its rivarly with George Washington University, a team that has taken four of the last five meetings. Rebekkah Brunson has continued to top Georgetown?s scoring and rebounding lists, draining 17.9 points per game while chinning 12 boards per contest. Mary Lisicky has shined in her sophomore season, heading the Georgetown attack with a 3.2 assist to turnover ratio while remaining the Hoyas long distance threat hitting 2.9 threes per game.

George Washington began the season ranked #21 in the country but three losses in a row have dropped them out of the polls. They remain a dangerous opponent scoring 69.9 points per game and ranking second in the Atlantic 10 with a field goal percentage of .457. Senior Cathy Joens leads the team with 16.1 points per game and 3.9 assists every outing. Center Ugo Oha is second on the team in scoring with 11.4 points per game and leads all Colonials in rebounds with 7.3 per game. In their last meeting, GW fell to Rutgers 87-72 despite five Colonials scoring in double-digits.
