Hoyas lose to Hall in OT, 82-93.

Georgetown (10-6, 2-4) lost in overtime on 1/29/03, falling to Seton Hall (8-9, 3-4) by a score of 82-93. Tony Bethel paced all scorers with 22 points (6 rebounds, 5 assists) and Mike Sweetney led all rebounders with 12 caroms on his way to his 29th double-double, scoring 20 points. Gerald Riley contributed 17 tallies and Wesley Wilson added 12 in a losing cause. Mike fouled out with 04:47 remaining in regulation, Wesley received his 5th whistle 3 minutes and 12 seconds later and Brandon Bowman left with 22 seconds remaining in overtime. Seton Hall?s Whitney was disqualified at 03:53 of the second half.

It was a game of 15 minute spurts. In the opening frame Seton Hall hit 50% from the field  (to Georgetown?s 33.3%) and led by as many as 12 with 04:49 remaining. The Hoyas put on an 11-4 spurt to end the period trailing by 5, 34-39.

Georgetown then got the hot hand, shooting 65.2% (15-23) while holding the Pirates to 36.7% (11-30). The Hoyas established their first lead of the game at the 09:50 of the second half. A nip and tuck battle ensued for the remainder of regulation, ending with a 74-74 tie, the fifth tie of the final 10 minutes.

In overtime Seton Hall got hot again, hitting 4 of 5 (80%) from the field while the Hoyas went cold, hitting 3 of 9 (33.3%).
