WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Hoya tennis team went both North and South this past weekend in tournaments at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. and at Old Dominion University in Newport News, Va.

At the ITA Eastern Regional Championships hosted by Cornell University, the doubles team of Dennis Cravedi (Bethesda, Md./Georgetown Prep) and Erik Bildman (Brookline Ma./Roxbury Latin School) advanced to the round of 32 with an 8-5 victory over the team from Manhattan University. In the round of 32, Cravedi and Bildman fell to the Army tandem of Albornoz and Sabia.

In the singles competition, Cravedi was defeated by Dan Hagenby of Binghamton 6-0,6-2 in the first round. In the consolation draw, Cravedi defeated Davy Lee of Navy 6-3,6-3 before dropping a tough match to Todd Lecher of UPenn 6-2,7-6. Bildman lost his first round consolation match 6-4,6-1 to Chris McCoy of Boston College.

At the Old Point Bank Collegiate Championships, hosted by Old Dominion University and held in Newport News, Va., freshman Kevin Killeavy?s (Indian Harbor Beach, Fla./Melbourne Central Catholic) singles play was the highlight of the tournament. Killeavy advanced to the final of the Flight C Consolation Championship before falling to Ryan Goldsmith of Richmond. Killeavy?s classmate, Scott Faust (Miami, Fla./ Ransom Everglades), also had a solid tournament performance reaching the semifinal of the Flight B Consolation Draw. Other Hoyas to pick up singles victories in the tournament included Eric Conrad (Gloucester, Mass./ St. John's Prep) and Eddie Carver (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy). Carver was the only Hoya who advanced in Main Draw singles play.

The Hoyas have concluded their fall competitive season. Their next competition is scheduled for January 23-25, 2004 at the Virginia Commonwealth University 4+1 Invitational in Richmond, Va.
