Hoyas Place Eighth at Penn State' Rutherford Men' Golf Intercollegiate

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- A week after finishing third at the BIG EAST Championship, the Georgetown men?s golf team turned in an eighth place finish at the Rutherford Intercollegiate this weekend, April 26-27. The three-round, fifteen-team event was hosted by Penn State and played at the 72-par Penn State Blue golf course in University Park, Pennsylvania. Led by junior Nick Cook (Shelton, Conn./Fairfield Prep), the Hoyas turned in a 15-over-par three-round score of 879 after scoring team totals of 298, 289, and 292 in each round.

Cook?Georgetown?s top performer this year and an eighth-place finisher at the BIG EAST?placed third overall at the Rutherford Intercollegiate. He recorded an eight-under-par 208 for the tournament. Cook carded a 70 in the opening round, followed by a pair of three-under 69s to round out the performance.

The next best finisher for the Hoyas was junior James Farrah (Potomac, Md./Georgetown Prep), who ended in a three-way tie for 38th place. After a tough opening round of 81, Farrah rounded out his performance with scores of 70 and 72 for a combined total of 223.

Sophomore Bob Molina (Skokie, Ill./Loyola) placed in a tie for 53rd with a score of 227 (75, 75, 77). In the meantime, freshmen Matt Myers (St. Joseph, Mo./Central High School) and David Erickson (Edina, Minn./The Blake School) both combined for three-round totals of 228, good enough for a 55th place tie. Myers had rounds of 79, 75, and 74, while Erickson recorded a 74, 76, and 78.

This weekend?s tournament rounded out the Hoyas? spring golf season.
