WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Hoya Diamond Club will be hosting a golf tournament on Saturday, June 14 at the La Tourette Golf Course in Staten Island for the most avid and important supporters of the Georgetown baseball program. First tee time will be at 11:00 a.m. and the day will include 18 holes of championship golf, as well as longest drive and closest to the pin competitions. The day will be followed by a post-round banquet fresh with beverages and barbecue.
The gathering is intended to strengthen the existing network of supporters and develop a foundation for garnering additional support as the program continues to reach higher levels. This is also an opportunity to renew relationships with former Hoya baseball players and alumni and interact with the current coaching staff and administration.
Georgetown baseball has recently completed another BIG EAST campaign. The team's 2003 record of 14-33 does not reflect the tremendous effort and commitment that has been put forth by the current group of players, coaches, and administration. What it does reflect, however, is that continued support is necessary from those closest to the program in order for Georgetown to compete successfully at the Division I level and in the BIG EAST. Support from this group is necessary to augment the tremendous effort and commitment that is exhibited by the current student-athletes and to pave the way for the next generation of Hoya baseball players.
