Diamond Club Hosts Golf Outing

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. ? Friends and benefactors of the Georgetown baseball team gathered last Saturday, June 14, at the La Tourette Golf Course in Staten Island, N.Y for an afternoon of golf and a post-game banquet.

The Hoya Diamond Club hosted the event, which was designed to provide Georgetown baseball players and alumni an opportunity to interact with the current coaching staff and members of the athletic department administration. In all, 19 people participated in the festivities, including Head Coach Pete Wilk and Assistant Coach Doc Beeman.

The participants in the golf outing vied for individual ?Longest Drive? and ?Closest to the Pin? awards, and broke into five groups to compete in a team competition. Kevin DeSanto was the winner of the accuracy contest, while Andrew Mariniello earned the longest drive award. Paul Perillo, Phil Pierorazio and Brian Cassese claimed the team title.

Other attendees at the event included Derek Pines, Jim Supple, Franklin Jarman, Mike Doody, Kevin Doody, Brian Vanderwag, Andrew Mariniello, Steve Alhona, Carmine Carullo, Matt Carullo, Virgil Bossom, Chip Grawey and Dan Cohen.

The baseball program recently announced the signing of six recruits, and ten members of the returning team are currently playing in an assortment of prestigious summer leagues.
