Hoyas release Men's Basketball Schedule

10/1/2004 At least 16 contests with opponents who appeared in post season tournaments last season (including home and away matchups with both NCAA Champions and NIT Finalists and a game against the former NCAA Champions) highlight the 2004-2005 Georgetown University Men's Basketball schedule.

GU?s home slate of BIG EAST opponents will begin January 8th with National Champion Connecticut (33-6 NCAA), and will include Rutgers (20-13 NIT Finalist), on January 11, Notre Dame (19-13 NIT) on January 23, and St John?s on the 25th. In February the Hoyas host Seton Hall (21-10 NCAA) on the 2nd, West Virginia (17-14 NIT) on the 12th and Villanova (18-17 NIT) on the 27th. The Final Conference home game will be against Providence (20-9 NCAA) on March 5th.

On the road the Hoyas will open BIG EAST play with Pittsburgh (31-5 NCAA) on January 5. On January 15 the Hoyas travel to Villanova (18-17 NIT) and on the 18th they visit former National Champion Syracuse (23-8 NCAA). The Hoyas end the month with a trip to Boston College (24-10 NCAA)on the 29th. In February, Georgetown will face Rutgers (20-13 NIT Finalist) on the 5th, Notre Dame (19-13 NIT) on the 16th, and St. John?s on the 20th. The Hoyas close the regular season conference road slate at Connecticut (33-6 NCAA) on March 2nd.

Georgetown's first home game will take place on November 22nd when the Hoyas face Temple (15-14 NIT). The Hoyas host the Citadel on November 26 and travel to Davidson on November 30. In December GU hosts Penn State, on the 6th and Illinois (26-7, NCAA), on the 9th. Other December home games include Norfolk on the 28th Howard on the 30th and one game to be announced for December 12th.

Hoyas in Hawaii- Georgetown participates in the 2004 Rainbow Classic from December 20 through December 23. The 2004 field includes, Alabama-Birmingham (22-10 NCAA), USC, Clemson, Indiana State, Long Beach State and Hawaii (21-12 NIT). All games are held at the 10,000-seat Stan Sheriff Center on the University of Hawaii campus in Manoa.

This year Georgetown games will be carried by WTEM with the "Voice of the Hoyas", Rich Chvotkin at the mike.
