Men's Tennis Closes Fall Season at ITAs

10/26/2004

BLACKSBURG, VA. -- Sophomore men's tennis student-athletes Scott Faust (Miami, Fla./Ransom Everglades) and Kevin Killeavy (Indian Harbor Beach, Fla./Melbourne Central Catholic) represented Georgetown in the 2004 Wilson ITA Regional Singles and Doubles Championships at Virginia Tech October 20-24, 2004. The luck of the draw did not help the Hoyas cause as their first round match-ups proved to be very challenging.

Killeavy attempted to qualify for the main draw but was defeated by Jean-Francois Robitaille of Stony Brook 6-2,7-5. Robitaille did advance to the main draw with a second qualifying draw win and then fell in a close match to Harvard in the main draw.

Faust was defeated in the first round of the main singles draw by Josh Burman of Princeton 6-2,6-4. Burman then defeated seeded Fransisco Velazquez of St. Joseph's before falling to the eighth seed in three sets.

In doubles the Hoyas received another tough draw. Unseeded Saurabh Kohl and Eric Thomas of Brown 8-1 defeated Faust and Killeavy. Kohl and Thomas then defeated 14th seeded Chiu and Valkin of Harvard and then defeated Hanegby and Gallagher of Binghamton to reach the quarterfinals.

This ends the 2004 fall season for the men's tennis program. The spring season gets started in early January 2005 for the Hoyas.
