The Hoyas (6-3) defeated Clemson (8-3) in the consolation round of the 41st Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic in Hawaii on 12/23/04 by a score of 75-60.? Brandon Bowman paced all scorers with 22 points on his way to a double-double with 10 boards. Jeff Green, not to be outdone, also scored a double-double with 15 points and 10 boards. Jonathan Wallace contributed 13 tallies and Ashanti Cook rounded out the quartet of Hoyas in double figures with 12 points.
The first half was a very even affair. Although the Hoyas established a lead of as many as 8, the Tigers roared back each time Georgetown put too much distance between them.? There were five ties in the period and by intermission the Hoyas led by 1, 28-27.? The Hoyas outrebounded the Tigers 18-14 and had 2 fewer turnovers.
Georgetown roared out of the locker room in the second half with a 13-1 run. The 13 point margin proved insurmountable for the opposition as Clemson never came closer than 11 (63-52, 03:26). The final margin was 15, 75-60.
For the game the Hoyas shot 52.2% from the field (including 16-20, 80% for the second half) while holding Clemson to 40% shooting. The battle of the boards favored the Tigers by 1 (30-31), but Clemson also committed 2 more turnovers.
