WASHINGTON, D.C. ? The women?s soccer team at Georgetown University would like to announce the signing of seven 2004 recruits.
Karen Waskewich is a 5?8? defender from Maryland. Waskeich comes into the program with a variety of accolades and awards. She was a four-year varsity starter at Holy Cross as well as being named MVP all four years. Three times she has been named to the WCAC conference team and the first team all-county team. Four times she has been named to the All-Met team by the Washington post as well as first team All-Gazette. Karen is a member of the Damascus Spirit, the Maryland State Champions and Region I Finalists in 2001. Academically Karen will be studying in the McDonough School of Business with hopes of pursuing a degree in accounting.
Sara Jordan is a 5?9? midfielder from Indiana. Jordan is a member for the Carmel Commotion, the 2003 Region II Champions and National Finalists. Three times she has been named to All-State and All-County teams in addition to being a member of the District First Team. Sarah has also been selected as an NSCAA/ Adidas Scholar All-American. Sara has also been on the Varsity Basketball team for 4 years. At Georgetown Sara will be studying as an undecided major in the Georgetown College.
Sarah Fetters is a 5?2? midfielder from Florida. Fetter's captains her club, Team Boca, who were the 2001 State Champions. She was a Sun-Sentinel First-Team All-County Selection and was also selected to the State All-Star Team. Fetters was also nominated for Student-Athlete of the Year in 2004. Once at Georgetown Sarah will be studying as an undecided major in the Georgetown College.
Kirsten Odermann is a 5?7? defender from Oregon. She is a member of the United States Super-Club 2003 National Champions, F.C. Portland. A four-year varsity team member and a First Team All-League selection in 2002 and 2003. She was also named ?The Player of the Year? for the Metro League in 2003. Kirsten will be studying as an undecided major in the Georgetown College.
Laura Boova is a 5?7? midfielder from New Jersey. Boova was a member of the two time Region I Champions and National Semi-Finalist, the PDA Galaxy. Boova has also participated in the State and Regional Olympic Development Programs, and is a former US Region I team member. A member at the varsity soccer squad at The Pingry School in both basketball and soccer, she has been selected as a member of the All-State and Central Region top 20 players by the New Jersey Girls Soccer Coaches Association. This is in addition to garnering All-Conference, All-County and All-Parochial awards in 2002. As a Hoya Boova will be studying in the McDonough School of Business.
Elaina Filauro is a 5?7? forward from New Jersey. Filauro is a member of the PDA Stampede who was the 2002 New Jersey State Champions. She has been a member of the State Olympic Development Program team and has participated in the Region I ODP pool, winning the ODP Region I Championship in 2003, and earning an appearance in the ODP National Championships. A four-year Varsity starter at Morris Knolls High School, Filauro has garnered All-County, All-Conference, and All-State awards. She was also Captain of both her club and high school teams. She plans to study in the Georgetown College with an undecided major.
Jade Higgins is a 5?7? goalkeeper from New York. A four year varsity team member at West Hempstead High School Jade been named to the All-County and All-State teams. A captain of both her High School and her club team, the Oceanside Blue Express, Jade has helped the latter team to a State Cup Championship and numerous appearances in tournament finals. Jade is also a six year member of the Olympic Development Program team in Eastern New York and a former Region I pool team member. Academically Jade will be studying in the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University.
