ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Hoya women's tennis team hosted the Dukes of James Madison University on Saturday, February 7 at the Army-Navy Country Club Indoor Tennis Facility. The Dukes won the match 5-2 against the Hoyas.
JMU jumped out on top 1-0 by winning the doubles competition. The Hoyas lost close matches at #1 and #2 doubles.
In singles, Georgetown showed a lot of determination and solid play. Leading the way were rookies Eileen Boyle (Burr Ridge, Ill./ St. Ignatius Prep (Chicago)) and Kristin Dew (Nashville, Tenn.). Each battle to third set tiebreaks, and Dew was victorious while Boyle fell. The match of the day came at the #1 singles position where Hoya Jordan Botjer (Miami, Fla./ Ransom Everglades) was locked in a marathon battle with her JMU counterpart. Botjer pulled ahead and won by the narrowest of margins 6-4,6-7(2),10-8.
The Hoyas start their BIG EAST Conference schedule next Saturday, February 14th, as they host the St. John's Red Storm at the Army Navy Country Club.
