The Skinny
Syracuse ventures to D.C. for its only showdown with Georgetown this season. The Orange did play in Washington earlier this year and fell to GW 43-65. SU leads the overall Hoya-Orange series 21-19 but the Hoyas are on a two game winning streak, sweeping both contests last season. Georgetown has won eight of the last 10 meetings, with three of the victories coming in overtime.
Georgetown All-America candidate Rebekkah Brunson has faced Syracuse four times in her career and averages a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Brunson continues to lead the BIG EAST in scoring and rebounding in both conference and non-conference action. Never in the history of the BIG EAST has a player ended the season as the league?s leader in scoring and rebounding in conference games. In the past three games Georgetown has gone nine deep on the bench, producing close results with a 10-point loss to B.C., a five-point loss to RU and an 11-point victory at Pitt.
Syracuse is on a nine-game slide losing nine straight conference games. SU has produced a 3-9 mark overall on the road with two of the wins against BIG EAST opponents (Pitt and Providence). Senior guard Julie McBride ranks third in the league for scoring, 17.1 ppg. and is SU?s leader in assists with 103 total.
