Women's Basketball Faces Rematch with Notre Dame

Georgetown and Notre Dame go at it for the second time this season with the Hoyas winning a close affair in game one, 76-73. Since that game the Irish have ripped off a 6-1 mark, including a current string of five straight. Georgetown has produced a 3-4 mark since the ND win, posting wins over Virginia Tech, St. John?s and Villanova. The overall series has Notre Dame ahead 17-2 and Georgetown has never won at Joyce Center.

All-America candidate Rebekkah Brunson has been one of the BIG EAST?s most dominating players this season, winning five BIG EAST Player of the Week awards. She has led the Hoyas in scoring the past six games and has been the top or tied for the top rebounder in 14 straight. Complimenting Brunson?s presence has been Mary Lisicky who is the league?s second most deadly three-point shooter, hitting at a 40.0% clip. She is averaging 2.42 made threes a game, which ranks fourth in the conference.

Notre Dame is tied for second place in the conference standings and owns six wins over ranked opponents. The Irish are riding a 14-game home winning streak and are led by Jacqueline Batteast?s 14.8 ppg. and 8.3 rpg. Megan Duffy has also been a consistent force for ND scoring 11.5 ppg and averaging 4.60 assists per game.

Rebekkah Brunson is the BIG EAST leader in points (18.2) and rebounds (11.3). She is the only player in the conference averaging a double-double and has a league leading 11 on the year.

Mary Lisicky is Georgetown?s all-time leader in three pointers (194). She is also only 44 points away from being one of 19 1,000 point scorers in Hoya history.
