WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Georgetown men's tennis team lost to Boston College 4-3 on Saturday afternoon March 27 at the McDonough Arena Tennis Complex.
The Hoyas began the match by winning the doubles competition with outstanding performances from the #2 and #3 doubles teams. At #3 doubles Eric Conrad (Gloucester, Mass./ St. John's Prep) and Eddie Carver (Virginia Beach, Va./ Norfolk Academy) won eight straight games to shut out their Eagle opponents 8-0. At #2 doubles Kevin Killeavy (Indian Harbor Beach, Fla./ Melbourne Central Catholic) and Scott Faust (Miami, Fla./ Ransom Everglades) lost only one game, winning by an 8-1 score.
In singles play, the Hoyas were only able to win two of six singles matches. Erik Bildman (Brookline, Mass./ Roxbury Latin School) won his #5 singles match decisively. Killeavey won his match at #3 singles in a close straight set battle. The final remaining match as the two teams stood deadlocked at 3-3 saw Hoya #2 Faust hold match point before falling to BC's McCoy in three sets. BC claimed the narrow victory by a 4-3 margin.
On Sunday the Hoyas continue their weekend on the McDonough Courts as they host Duquesne in a non-conference match at 11:00 a.m.
