BALTIMORE, Md. ? The University of Maryland-Baltimore County defeated Georgetown in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday afternoon at The Baseball Factory Field at UMBC by a final score of 10-7.

Behind 14 hits and two Georgetown errors, the Retrievers (5-16) posted 10 runs en route to their victory over the Hoyas (17-14). Georgetown had previously defeated UMBC, 7-0, earlier this season at home.

UMBC?s Kyle Wildasin extended his hit streak to nine games and went yard for the fifth time in the last six games. Wildasin also picked up the save, his second of the season, as starting pitcher Zach Clark went 7.0 innings to get the win, his second of the year.

Clark and Hoyas' starter Travis Danysh (San Antonio, Texas/ Alamo Heights) made it through the first inning perfectly before both teams added runs in the second. The Hoyas in the top of the second tallied an unearned run as Andrew Cleary (Weston, Mass./ Belmont Hill) reached on an error and later scored on a sacrifice fly by teammate Matthew Johnson (Bothell, Wash./ Newport).

Wildasin quickly tied the game as he hit a shot over the centerfield wall for his fifth homerun of the year, all coming in the previous six games. The Retrievers loaded the bases and added two more runs in the inning, one coming from the bat of Chris Cerullo who singled to center and the other off a walk to Mike Orlando. The Retrievers sent nine batters to the plate in the second but were only able to manage three runs as they stranded three on base.

After a scoreless third inning, the Retrievers tallied a run in each of the following five innings, including Orlando hitting his first homerun of the year with a two run shot in the seventh inning.

Orlando's homerun gave the Retrievers a little more breathing room after the Hoyas rallied for four runs in the top of the seventh to close the Retriever lead to 7-6. With two outs and no one aboard, Johnson singled and moved to third a batter later when teammate Derek deGrijs (Nashville, Tenn./ BC Goodpasture) doubled. Parker Brooks (Las Vegas, Nev./ Bishop Gorman) doubled, driving in two runs, and later scored on a single by Jim Supple (Summit, N.J./ St. Peter?s Prep). Supple crossed the plate as well as the Hoyas tallied four runs on four hits and a Retriever error.

The Retrievers' two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth allowed Clark to hold on to the win as he went 7.0 innings, striking out three, and allowing six hits, six runs and four earned runs. Wildasin relieved Blake Phipps and faced two batters, allowing one hit and striking out two in the final two innings to get the save.

Five Hoyas took the mound on the game, with Danysh (3-2) receiving the loss after going 5.0 innings, allowing five runs on seven hits.

The Retrievers were led by Dan Carpenter, who went 4-for-5 day from the plate with a run and RBI, along with Wildasin, who went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI. Brooks and Orlando each went 2-for-4 with two runs scored as Brooks recorded an RBI and Orlando batted in three Retrievers. Timmy Jones (Ledgewood, N.J./ Morristown) went 2-for-4 on the day for the Hoyas.

Georgetown travels to Uconn this weekend for a three-game series, beginning with a noon doubleheader on Saturday. The team's next home game is scheduled for April 8 against Virginia Tech.
