NEW CANNAN, Conn. ? Georgetown?s men?s lacrosse team (6-2) held a 5-0 lead over Vermont (4-6) after the first quarter and ended the day with a 13-5 victory at New Canaan High School in New Canaan, Connecticut. Walid Hajj (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) led Georgetown?s scoring barrage with six goals, a new career high.
Seven separate Hoyas other than Hajj netted one goal in the game. Kyle Morin (Hanover, N.H./The Hotchkiss School) netted his first goal in a Georgetown uniform and had three assists. GU?s other scorers were Trevor Casey (Bethesda, Md./Georgetown Prep), Nick Miaritis (Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville), Neal Goldman (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron), Brodie Merrill (Orangeville, Ontario/Salisbury School (Conn.)), Sean Denihan (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) and Garrett Wilson (Ardmore, Pa./Episcopal Academy).
The first half saw Georgetown outshoot Vermont 22 to seven. The Hoyas finished the game with 49 total shots compared to the Catamounts 26. The Blue and Gray also won the ground ball battle, 50 to 32.
It was as two-man goalie effort for Georgetown with Rich D?Andrea (Belle Mead, N.J./The Peddie School) playing the first half and making three saves and Andrew Owen (Charlottesville, Va./Western Ablemarle) took over for the second half and recorded four saves and gave up three scores.
In the face-off circle GU won 15 of 22 using Christiaan Trunz (Manhasset, N.Y./Chaminade), Nick Lukens (Houston, Texas/St. John?s School) and Mike McGuire (Arlington, Va./O?Connell).
