WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Hoya men?s tennis team defeated Howard by a 4-3 score on the McDonough Arena outdoor tennis courts on Tuesday afternoon April 6.

The Hoyas continued to exert their solid doubles play by winning the doubles competition with victories at the #3 and #1 doubles positions. At #3 doubles Eric Conrad (Gloucester, Mass./ St. John's Prep) and Eddie Carver (Virginia Beach, Va./ Norfolk Academy) shut out their Howard opponents 8-0. At #1 doubles Dennis Cravedi (Bethesda, Md./ Georgetown Prep) and Erik Bildman (Brookline, Mass./ Roxbury Latin School) overturned a break of serve disadvantage at 5-6 to score a 9-8 tiebreaker win.

The doubles point proved instrumental in the Hoya victory as Howard battled to three singles wins in the singles competition. But the Hoyas got the three singles wins they needed to win the team match. Coming through for Georgetown were Conrad at #6 singles a 6-0,6-0 winner, Bildman at #4 singles a 6-4,6-1 winner and Kevin Killeavy (Indian Harbor Beach, Fla./ Melbourne Central Catholic), who won the final match of the day and the clinching fourth team point with a 6-7,6-4,7-6 win at #3 singles.

The Hoyas will host Mary Washington College on the McDonough Courts on Wednesday afternoon April 14 at 3:30 p.m.
