PROVIDENCE, R.I.-The Georgetown University women's basketball team (7-12; 2-6) defeated Providence College (1-17, 0-7) Saturday, January 29 at Alumni Hall by a score of 87-30. The 57 point victory is the largest margin of victory ever for Georgetown in a BIG EAST contest. The win gives the Hoyas their second BIG EAST win of the season and snaps a three game losing streak. Georgetown had five players score in double digits.

The Hoyas dominated throughout the whole game, as they outscored the Friars 40-18 in the first half and turned up the heat even more in the second as they outscored them 47-12. Georgetown shot an impressive 54.9% from the field in the second half and limited the Friars to 19%.

The Hoyas were led by freshman Kieraah Marlow (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) who tallied 20 points and 10 rebounds for her tenth double-double of the season. Junior Bethany LeSueur (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City (Virginia) netted 14 points and eight rebounds, while senior Varda Tamoulianis (Moscow, Russia/Academy of Labour and Social Relations) hit 12 and grabbed seven boards. Senior Mary Lisicky (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) and sophomore Kate Carlin (Ambler, Pa./Mount St. Joseph's) both scored 11 points apiece.

Shauna Snyder led Providence with 13 points.

The Hoyas will next travel to BIG EAST opponent Syracuse on Wednesday, February 2 at 7 p.m.
