Check out the Highlights of the Game.
Georgetown's (9-4, 1-1) five game win streak ended on 01/08/05 when they lost to the 10th ranked Connecticut Huskies (9-2, 1-1) by a score of 59-66. The 11,363 in attendance at the MCI Center as well as the television audience saw Jeff Green pace all scorers with a career high 22 points. Jeff also had 6 boards, 3 assists, 2 blocks and a steal. Brandon Bowman added 14 points, led the team in rebounding with 8 and had 4 assists 2 blocks and a steal. Ashanti Cook and Jonathan Wallace each contributed 9 points.
The Hoyas dug themselves a deep hole in the first period, hitting only 25% of their shots. The frustration of being down by 10 after the first ten minutes led to uncharacteristically inefficient play as GU allowed a 14-2 run in the final 04:35 and was outrebounded 15-32. At intermission the Hoyas trailed by 20, 19-39.
The Georgetown team did not, however, hang their heads. After exchanging baskets the Hoyas put together a 19-4 run to trail by 6, 41-47 with 9:36 remaining. Georgetown shot 50% from the field in the second half and 57.1% from beyond the arc. The Hoyas also pulled down 17 boards to Connecticut's 15.
For the game the Hoyas converted 7 of their 13 opportunities from the stripe while Connecticut made 20 of 26.
