Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown swimming and diving team fell to Boston College yesterday at McCarthy Pool, swimming a total of 26 events. The men lost 130-113 while the women went down 152-91 to the Eagles.
The Hoyas were able to record first place finishes in nine events, five for the men and four for the women. Georgetown also notched 13 second place finishes, six events for the men and seven for the women.
Freshman standout on the men's team, Goran Bistric (Saugus, Calif.) , placed first in the 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:57.13, qualifying for the BIG EAST Championship in this event. Freshman Daniel Robinson (Pittsburgh, Pa.) was just behind Bistric with a time of 2:00.45. Robinson also placed first in the 200 Yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:02.48.
Additionally, Bistric was a member of the first place 400 Yard Medley Relay quartet. Bistric joined senior Peter Myers (Peoria, Ill.), and freshmen Brian Badala (San Anselmo, Calif.) and David Ballinger (Pleasantville, N.Y.) to swim a 3:41.09 relay. Also finishing first were sophomore Chris Ball (Horsham, Pa.) in the 500 Yard Freestyle (5:00.14) and Badala in the 200 Yard Breaststroke event (2:18.54).
Senior Katie Amaro (Shreveport, La.) swam a 10:51.88 1000 Yard Freestyle for a first place finish for the women.
Sophomore Caitlin Colling (Monson, Mass.) swam into first with a time of 2:12.45 in the 200 Yard Individual Medley. Other first place finishers were freshman Jaclyn Zocca (Summit, N.J.) in the 200 Yard Backstroke (2:12.99) and sophomore Kelcey Moore (Arlington, Va.) in the 3 Meter Diving event (2:27.55).
The Hoyas return to action on October 29 when they travel to the University of Delaware for a 1 p.m. meet.
