Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown women's tennis team traveled to Newport News, Va. this weekend for the Hampton Roads Collegiate Tennis Invitational.

The Hoyas were most successful in doubles action, led by sophomores Adriann Gin (Honolulu, Hawaii) and Stephanie Cohen (Fayettesville, N.Y.). The duo won the B-2 Doubles bracket with three easy wins, topped off with a 8-4 victory over Barsky and Dragonette.

Senior Charlotte Guy (Pasadena, Calif.) and junior Eileen Boyle (Burr Ridge, Ill.) also worked well together in doubles action. In the C-1 Doubles draw, the pair made it to the finals with wins in two tough opening round matches, but came up short in the finals to Harclerode and Smith, 8-1.

Freshman Lauren Bakios (Portsmouth, R.I.) played well in the D-2 Singles draw, advancing to the semifinals with straight set wins, after a first round bye, earlier in the weekend, before falling to Julie Schiller, 6-1, 7-6 on Sunday. Also in the bracket, Guy moved into the quarterfinals with two easy wins, dropping only six points. However, she lost to Wei Ming Leong, 6-0, 6-3 to end her tournament.
