Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown swimming and diving team lost to Delaware at Harry Rawstrom Pool in Newark, Del. The meet consisted of 26 events.
On the men's side, Goran Bistric (Saugus, Calif./William S. Hart) broke the Georgetown record in the 100 backstroke on the lead leg of the 400 yard medley with a time of 52.98. The old record was set by Heath Walden (Scituate, Mass./Boston College High) last year. Bistric also won the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 1:57.48.
Doug Curran (St. Louis, Mo./DeSmet Jesuit) and Santini Reali (Sarasota, Fla./Pine View) tied for first in the one meter diving event.
In the 200 yard breaststroke, Brian Badala (San Anselmo, Calif.) placed first with a time of 2:18.68 followed by John Aidan Boswick (Wyckoff, N.J./Indian Hills) in second with a time of 2:20.21.
On the women's side, Corinne Rhodes (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) won the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:28.75.
The quartet of Julie Dougherty (East Haven, Conn./East Haven), Megan Maragakes (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East), Kelcey Poulson (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) and Laura Sytnyk (Nutley, N.J./Mount St. Dominic) won the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:54.25.
The Hoyas return to action Saturday, Nov. 5 against Fairfield and Loyola (Md.) in Baltimore, Md. at 1 p.m.
