Women's Soccer Hosts a Pair of BIG EAST Matchups

Oct. 6, 2005

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown women's soccer team (10-2-1, 3-1-1 BIG EAST) host a pair of conference matchups this weekend. They welcome the Cardinals of Louisville on Friday and the Cincinnati Bearcats on Sunday, both on North Kehoe Field.

The Hoyas split a pair of BIG EAST road games last weekend, defeating St. John's, 2-1, on Friday, Sept. 30, then losing to Syracuse on Sunday, Oct. 2. With the 1-0 double overtime loss to Syracuse, the Hoyas suffered their first conference loss of the season and snapped their eight-game winning streak. Georgetown is ranked second in the BIG EAST B Division following last weekend's games, behind #6 Notre Dame.

As a team, Georgetown ranks third in the conference in points with 66 behind Notre Dame (158) and Marquette (71). The Hoyas also rank second in goals scored in the BIG EAST with 25. Individually, junior forward Chrissy Skogen (San Marino, Calif.) ranks third in the conference with seven goals, including three game winners. Sophomore goalkeeper Jade Higgins (Island Park, N.Y.) is tied for first in the league with six shutouts.

Friday's contest against Louisville (8-4-0, 3-2-0 BE) will be a good chance to see if the Hoyas can bounce back from their loss to SU. Louisville split a pair of BIG EAST games last weekend, shutting out Providence 3-0 and then losing to Connecticut, 2-1. Louisville is now in a tie for third with Villanova in the BIG EAST B Division.

The Hoyas welcome the Cincinnati Bearcats (3-6-3, 1-3-1 BE) this Sunday, Oct. 9. The Bearcats also split a pair of conference matchups last weekend, shut out by Connecticut 3-0 on Friday and then shutting out Providence, 1-0 on Sunday. Cincinnati will travel to Villanova this Friday, Oct. 7 to compete against the Wildcats.

The Hoyas host Louisville this Friday, Oct. 7 on North Kehoe Field at 3 p.m. Georgetown will then welcome Cincinnati this Sunday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m., also on North Kehoe Field.
