Skogen and McNeill Earn All-BIG EAST Honors

Nov. 3, 2005

Washington, D.C. - Georgetown women's soccer players Chrissy Skogen (San Marino, Calif./San Marino) and Shara McNeill (Avon, Conn./Avon) were named to the All-BIG EAST Second and Third Teams, respectively. It was announced today at the Conference's annual women's soccer banquet held in Milwaukee.

Junior midfielder Skogen was the leading scorer on the team this season with 22 points, scoring 10 goals and posting two assists. Skogen's 10 goals ties the school single-season record set by Jessie Beers-Altman in 2002. Skogen also is in a tie for third for single-season points. Skogen led the team in game-winning goals this season with three.

McNeill, a senior captain, scored five goals and three assists for 13 points this season. McNeill led the Hoya frontline and now places fourth for career points at Georgetown with 55 (19 goals, 17 assists). This is McNeill's fourth straight All-BIG EAST honor as she was named to the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team (2002), BIG EAST Second Team (2003), and the BIG EAST Third Team (2004, 2005).

Skogen and McNeill were part of a team that won a program-best 12 games and recorded a season-high eight shutouts. This was also the first year the Hoyas won a game at the BIG EAST Tournament. Georgetown (12-8-1, 4-6-1 BIG EAST) defeated Syracuse, 1-0, in the BIG EAST First Round on Oct. 27.

The Hoyas ended the 2005 season on Oct. 30 when they lost in the BIG EAST Quarterfinals to Notre Dame, 6-0.
