Georgetown plays the second a three-game homestand tonight at McDonough Arena, hosting Stetson ... This is the only regular season game the Hoyas are slated to play on campus this season.

About the Hoyas
Head Coach John Thompson III mentored the Hoyas to a 19-13 record in his first year at the helm of the Hoyas, improving on the 13-15 finish of the previous season ... Georgetown advanced to the Quarterfinals of the 2005 National Invitation Tournament ... This season, the team was picked to finish sixth in the BIG EAST ... The Hoyas enter today's game with a 4-2 overall record ... Sophomore center Roy Hibbert leads the team in scoring, averaging 13.0 points per game ... He is second on the team in rebounding (5.5 rpg) and leads the squad with 18 blocked shots ... Hibbert rejected a career-high six shots at Illinois on December 8... Hibbert also leads the team in field goal percentage, connecting on 59.5 percent of his shots from the field (28-of-47; the league minimum is 5.0 FG made per game, Hibbert averages 4.7) ... Hibbert opened the season with back-to-back games of at least 20 points ... Senior guard Ashanti Cook, who scored a career-high 25 points in the win at Oregon last Saturday, is second on the team in scoring with 11.8 points per game ... Sophomore forward Jeff Green, last year's co-BIG EAST Rookie of the Year, is third on the team in scoring, tallying 10.3 points per game ... Green leads the squad, and ranks ninth in the BIG EAST, with 7.5 rebounds per game ... Green has also handed out 17 assists, 2.8 per game, a number than ranks tied for second on the team ... Senior forward Brandon Bowman is fourth on the team in scoring, avergaing 9.8 points per game, and is third on the team in rebounding, grabbing 4.4 boards per game ... Bowman scored a season-high 16 points against Fairfield ... Senior guard Darrel Owens has been a spark off the bench, averaging 7.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists ... Sophomore guard Jonathan Wallace is fifth on the team in scoring with 7.8 points per game ... Wallace is also averaging 2.8 assists, 1.3 rebounds and has a team-high seven steals ... While the Hoyas do not have a player who ranks among the top-15 in the league in assists, the team is averaging 12.5 per game, and handed out a season-high 20 in the win over Fairfield on December 11.

Scouting Stetson
Stetson enters tonight's game with an 0-7 record overall ... They opened the season with losses to North Carolina State, Delaware and The Citadel between November 18-20 and have since dropped games to Central Florida, Campbell, Gardner-Webb and South Florida ... The Hatters, 0-3 on the road so far, were picked to finish in seventh place in the Atlantic Sun Conference this season ... Senior forward E.J. Gordon - who has started the last 78 games, and 85 of 87 career games - leads the team in scoring (13.6 ppg), rebounding (5.4 rpg) and assists (3.4 apg) ... Senior guard Anthony Register is second on the team with 12.7 points and is averaging 3.1 rebounds ... Junior guard Will Holloman is third on the team in scoring with 12.6 points per game, and has connected on a team-high 13 three-pointers ... He is shooting 48.5 percent from the field (33-of-68) ... Junior Gabe McMillen is fourth on the team in scoring, averaging 7.4 points per game, while senior forward Karl Hollingsworth is playing 21.1 minutes off the bench, and averaging 6.4 points per game ... The Hatters have taken advantage of their trips to the free throw line, connecting on 76.7 percent of their free throws (79-of-103) ... They are 11th in the NCAA in free throw shooting ... Stetson's opponents are shooting 50.9 percent from the field, and five of the teams the Hatters have played have shot over 50 percent from the field.

Against Teams from the Atlantic Sun Georgetown has an all-time record of 2-1 against teams from the Atlantic Sun Conference ... They have posted wins against Florida Atlantic and Mercer, with the lone loss coming against an Artis Gilmore-led Jacksonville team during the 1970-71 season (41-24 loss) ... The last time the Hoyas played an Atlantic Sun team was during the 1994-95 season, a 70-55 win over Florida Atlantic.

According to its website (www.hispanicfund.org), "the Hispanic College Fund is the product of a dedicated group of Hispanic businessmen and women who were inspired to respond to the alarming growth in the number of talented Hispanic students who could not afford a college education. ... This call to action was precipitated by a compelling letter to the editor published in November 1990, in Hispanic Business magazine in which a student described his disillusionment in seeking financial aid from chief executive officers profiled in the magazine. ... Several concerned Hispanic CEOs who read the same letter responded by offering to help support the creation of the Hispanic College Fund. ... The Hispanic College Fund's mission is to educate and develop the next generation of Hispanic professionals. ... Our scholarship programs focus on developing Latino youth who are pursuing undergraduate degrees in business, science, engineering, technology and math. ... We accomplish our mission by awarding merit and need-based scholarships to Latino students and providing them with vision, resources, tools, and mentors so that they can achieve their full potential as a professional and a leader. ... Since 1993, the Hispanic College Fund has awarded over $6 million in scholarships to more than 2,800 Hispanic students. ... This year we are awarding 550 scholarships, totaling $1.4 million." ... There are Hispanic College Fund Classic basketball tournaments taking place at Georgetown, Oregon and North Carolina State ... North Carolina State hosted The Citadel, Delaware and Stetson in a round robin format Nov. 18-20. .... Georgetown played at Oregon on Dec. 3 and then hosts Stetson and Savannah State on Dec. 21 for its extended duration of the HCFC... Interestingly, in this NCAA-certified tournament, Oregon and Stetson will end up playing a total of four games, Georgetown, Pacific, Savannah State, N.C. State, The Citadel and Delaware three games each and Bowie State two.

Scheduling Ties
Unintentionally, Georgetown, Oregon, Vanderbilt, and Illinois are almost playing their own preseason round-robin tournament ... Vanderbilt defeated Georgetown 68-61 on Nov. 26 ... The Commodores then clipped the Ducks 76-75 on Nov. 30 ... Georgetown beat Oregon, 71-57, on Dec. 3, and then traveled to Illinois, losing 58-48 on Dec. 8 .... Two days later, Illinois beat Oregon.

Hoyas Ink Three
Georgetown Head Coach John Thompson III announced that three student-athletes had signed Letters-of-Intent to attend the University in 2005-06 ... Joining the Hoyas will be DaJuan Summers (Owings Mills, Md./McDonogh), Vernon Macklin (Hargrave Military Academy) and Jeremiah Rivers (Winter Park, Fla.) ... Summers, a 6-8 power forward, averaged 20 points and 11 rebounds as a junior and was named the Baltimore City Player of the Year ... Macklin, a 6-9 forward, averaged 24.2 points, 14.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocked shots at I.C. Norcom High School in Portsmouth, Va. ... Rivers, a 6-4 guard, is the son of Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers ... Rivers averaged 15 points, six assists and five rebounds as a junior, and participated in USA Basketball's Youth Development Festival as well as the NBA Players' Association Top 100 camp.

Block Party
Georgetown sophomore center Roy Hibbert rejected a career-high six shots at Illinois ... The six rejections were the most by a Hoya player since Courtland Freeman rejected six Howard shots on Dec. 20, 2003 at the MCI Center, a span of 36 games ... The Georgetown single game record for blocked shots is held by Dikembe Mutombo, who blocked 12 shots against St. John's on Jan. 2, 1989.

Helping Hands
Georgetown has three players averaging at least 2.0 assists per game this season ... Senior guard Darrel Owens leads the squad, with a 3.0 per game average ... Sophomore forward Jeff Green and sophomore guard Jonathan Wallace are averaging 2.8 per game ... Sophomore center Roy Hibbert and senior guard Ashanti Cook, meanwhile, have seven apiece, 1.2 per game.

Dishing It Out
Georgetown handed out a season-high 20 assists in a 76-51 win over Fairfield on December 11 ... It was the most for a Georgetown team since they dished out 21 against Howard on December 30, 2004 (they handed out 21 three times last season).

From Long Distance
Georgetown connected on a season-high 12 three-pointers in the win over Fairfield ... They matched their previous season-high (6) in the first half ... The Hoyas attempted 34 shots from long distance, tying the school record for attempts in a game, set previously on Jan. 8, 1995 against Boston College.

Streak Busters
Georgetown's win at Oregon on December 3 ended the Ducks' 35-game non-conference win streak against opponents at their home arena, McArthur Court ... It was the first time any of the current Oregon players had lost a non-conference game at home, and it was the first win by a non-conference opponent since Cal-State Northridge posted a 79-77 win on Dec. 11, 1999.

Road Warriors
Georgetown opened the 2005-06 men's basketball season in unique fashion, playing a pair of games on the road ... The Hoyas tipped off the season with wins in both games ... It is only the second time in the 99-year history of Georgetown basketball that a team started the season off with a pair of wins away from home ... The last time a Hoya team played two-straight on the road to start the season and won both games was the 1968-69 season, when the John Magee-led Hoyas won at Loyola (Md.) and American ... Since Georgetown first started its basketball program, in 1906-07, the Hoyas have opened the season with at least two road games only four other times (1914-15, 1945-46, 1961-62 and 1966-67) ... The 1945-46 team went a step further, opening the season with three-straight road games.

Home Away from Home
Taking a page from Jack Kerouac, the Georgetown men's basketball team went "On the Road" to start the 2005-06 season ... Georgetown played four of its first five game away from home ... The Hoyas got off to a great start on the road this season, improving to 3-1 with a win at Oregon on December 3 ... Last year, the Hoyas were 4-6 on the road ... They are 3-1 so far ths season, winning their first three games.

Back for More
Darrel Owens is back at Georgetown for his fifth year, after earning his bachelor's degree in sociology last year ... Owens, who sat out his freshman year in 2001-02, is now pursuing a second master's degree, this one in theology ... He's been a major contributor for the Hoyas, averaging 7.3 points and 4.0 rebounds per game ... Owens scored 10 points in the first three games this season and is shooting 47.1 percent from the floor (16-of-34), while playing 25.8 minutes off the bench ... Owens had a streak of eight-straight games in double figures ended at Oregon ... He was averaging 13.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists in that span ... During those eight games, Owens connected on 55.2 percent of his shots (37-of-67).

Cook Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll
Senior guard Ashanti Cook was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on December 5 ... Cook led Georgetown to a 71-57 win at Oregon, scoring a career-high 25 points to pace three players in double figures ... Cook connected on 8-of-10 field goals, setting a new career high in field goals made in the process ... He also hit a career-best 4-of-5 shots from long distance ... The senior guard is second on the team in scoring, averaging 12.8 points per game, and is second on the team in field goal percentage, connecting on 60.7 percent of his shots from the field (17-of-28).

Hibbert Named League Player of the Week
Georgetown University men's basketball player Roy Hibbert was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week on November 21 ... Hibbert scored a career-high 20 points in a 72-49 win over Navy in the season opener, leading the Hoyas to the road win ... The 7-2, 283-pound sophomore center connected on 8-of-11 shots from the field, notching career-best marks for field goals made and attempted ... He also blocked a career-high four shots while playing 25 minutes ... His previous career-best night came against Notre Dame last season, when he scored 15 points. He had reached three blocks in a game on four occasions last season ... Last year, Hibbert appeared in 32 games, starting 17 times, and averaged 5.1 points and 3.5 rebounds. He led the team with 40 blocked shots.

From the Charity Stripe
Georgetown took advantage of its trips to the free throw line during a 73-66 road win over James Madison on November 21 ... The Hoyas connected on 86.4 percent of their shots from the charity stripe, 19-of-22 ... They were led by sophomore Roy Hibbert, who hit all nine of his career-best nine attempts, and senior Ashanti Cook, who was 4-of-4 ... It was the best performance for a Hoya team (based on a minimum of 10 attempts) since an 80-64 win over Miami on February 7, 2004, when the team connected on 88.0 percent (22-of-25), a span of 42 games.

Georgetown ranks 10th in the BIG EAST in free throw percentage, connecting on 71.4 percent of its shots from the free throw line (75-of-105) ... On December 3 at Oregon, the team hit 80.8 percent of its shots (21-of-26) ... The 21 made free throws were the most by a Georgetown team since Feb. 2, 2005 - a span of 15 games - when the Hoyas hit 22-of-29 in a 61-51 win over Seton Hall.
