Box Score

WASHINGTON (AP)- Ann Strother scored 20 points, and No. 11 Connecticut overcome a second straight sloppy first half in a 67-49 victory Wednesday night over Georgetown.

The win was UConn's 18th straight over the Hoyas (9-14, 4-8 Big East) and kept the Huskies (17-6, 10-2) within a half- game of first-place Notre Dame and tied with Rutgers in the conference standings with four games to play.

The win over Georgetown didn't start much better than Sunday's loss to Rutgers, when the Huskies fell behind 12-0.

The Huskies made just one basket in the first six minutes against Georgetown, committed 13 first-half turnovers and fell behind by seven points in less than five minutes.

Bethany LeSueur had 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Hoyas, who just didn't show the offensive weapons to take advantage of UConn's slow start.

The Huskies held Georgetown to 33-percent shooting, forced 25 turnovers and finally started to put the game away with a 15-2 surge to end the first half and take a 34-20 lead.

Connecticut finished with 22 turnovers, the most the Huskies have had a win this season. UConn turned the ball over 20 times earlier this season in wins over Seton Hall and Colorado State.

Strother started to find her range after halftime, finishing the game with four 3-pointers. She also scored 10 points during a 19-4 second-half spurt that put UConn ahead 57-29.

Charde Houston added 13 points for the Huskies and Nicole Wolff had 10.

Kieraah Marlow added 10 points for Georgetown.
