Green Named 2005 Collegeinsider.com Freshman of the Year

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Georgetown University men's basketball student-athlete Jeff Green has been named the 2005 Collegeinsider.com Freshman of the Year. Green was also named the BIG EAST Co-Rookie of the year for his efforts throughout the season.

Green, a unanimous selection for the All-Rookie Team, was also named Honorable Mention All BIG EAST. Green is the team's second leading scorer averaging 12.9 (13.4 in BIG EAST play). He leads the team in rebounding (6.8), assists (3.0) and blocks (1.6). He has been honored five times this season as BIG EAST Rookie of the Week and was named to the Rainbow Classic All Tournament Team.

Over the course of the season Green has posted five double-doubles, is shooting .487 from the field. He has started every contest and averaged 34.6 minutes per game. He set career high in scoring with 22 against Connecticut 1/8/05, in rebounds with 12 at Villanova 1/15/05, in assists with seven at Boston College 1/29/05, in blocks with six against Penn State 12/6/04, and in steals with four against Long Beach State 12/22/04.
