FREDRICKSBURG, VA -- The Georgetown women's tennis team played their fifth match in a row on the road. And just one day after defeating the Eagles of American University, the Hoyas lost a 4-3 match to the Eagles of Mary Washington.

Georgetown lost the doubles point, as only the #1 team of Liddy Bartell (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Torrey Pines) and Stephanie Cohen (Fayetteville, N.Y./DeWitt) was able to come through with an 8-2 win.

In singles play, Georgetown won three of six matches. Cohen won the #1 singles match 6-1,6-2. Bartell won the #2 singles match 6-0,6-0. Kristin Dew (Nashville, Tenn./Webb School) won the #3 singles match 6-2,6-3. The decisive match came at the #5 singles match where Michelle DiCocco (Media, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) had three set points in the second set to even the match but fell short, dropping a hard fought 6-3,7-6(1) decision. The final score was Georgetown-3, Mary Washington-4.

Georgetown will play its sixth-straight away match at Connecticut on Saturday, April 2, and seventh straight road match at Boston College on Sunday, April 3.
