WASHINGTON, DC--The Georgetown University swimming and diving team completed the final day of events on Sunday, February 27, at the ECAC championships held at the University of Pittsburgh. The women's team finished in seventh of 28 teams with 264 points while the men's team finished with 33 points, placing 16th of 24 teams.
In addition to the team finishes, three Georgetown records were broken. Laura Sytnyk broke her own school record in the 200 butterfly, recording the new recordof 2:08.80. Heath Walden broke the 100 yard backstroke record,swimming to 53.51. Kevin Walsh set the record in the 200 yard butterfly, swimming 1:54.11.
In the final day of events, the women's team was highlighted by the fourth place finish of the 400 yard free relay. Freshman Caitlin Colling, junior Corrine Rhodes, freshman Kelcey Poulson and junior Katie Amaro swam 3:36.10. Stynykswam to an impressive sixth place finish in the 200 yard butterfly in 2:08.80, with Claire Nugent following closely behind in ninth place in a time of 2:09.55. Corrine Rhodes swam to ninth place in the 200 yard breaststroke in 2:25.49. Colling added another ninth place finish in the 100 yard freestyle, where she swam 53.21.
