BLOOMFIELD, CT -- Georgetown hit the road for two matches in New England this past weekend. The Hoyas shut out Connecticut on Saturday, 6-0, to pick up an important BIG EAST Conference win, but on Sunday the Boston College Eagles dropped a 6-1 loss on Georgetown.
At Connecticut, singles was played first and the Hoyas won all six matches, five in straight sets. Doubles was not played.
Eric Conrad (Gloucester, MA/St. John's Prep) was the first Hoya to complete his match, posting a 6-3, 6-0 win at #5 singles. Scott Faust (Miami, FL/Ransom Everglades) won the #6 singles match 6-3, 6-3, Kevin Killeavy (Indian Harbor Beach, FL/Melbourne Central Catholic) won the #4 singles match 6-3, 6-2. Erik Bildman (Brookline, MA/Roxbury Latin) won the always important #1 singles match 6-4, 6-2. Scott Maucher (Mount Pleasant, NC/Bishop England) chipped in with a 6-0, 6-3 win at #2 singles. And the final match of the day was won by Etienne Paris (Miami, FL/Ransom Everglades), with a 5-7, 6-2,10-5 score at #3 singles.
On Sunday at Boston College the Hoyas were defeated by the Eagles 6-1. Only Conrad was able to deliver a win for Georgetown, a 6-4, 6-3 victory at #4 singles. Bildman, Maucher and Faust played solid tennis in their matches at #1, #2 and #5, with Bildman falling in three sets.
This week the Hoyas take on BIG EAST rival St. John's at Rutgers University on Saturday April 9 at 10:00am.
