WASHINGTON, DC - Georgetown University Head Men's Golf Coach Tommy Hunter announced today that Patrick Sherry and Tim Hager have both signed letters of intent to become the newest members on the Hoya men's golf team in the fall of 2005.
Sherry is one of the premiere high school golfers in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area. He is currently the captain of his golf team at Landon High School in Bethesda, Maryland and resides in nearby Brookeville. Last year Sherry was named to Golfweek's list of the top junior golfers in Maryland. He currently has a stroke average of 71.3, which is among the leaders in the IAC Conference.
Hager, a senior captain of his Council Rock High School golf team, is considered to be one of the top high school golfers in the Philadelphia Area. He was named to the 2004-05 AJGA Rolex Academic All-American Team as well as the Jim McLean F.C.W.T. Academic All-American Team. Hager also has several top AJGA finishes to his credit this season.
The Hoyas placed second in the 2005 BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship held earlier this month and finished 10th in the Rutherford Intercollegiate Tournament hosted by Penn State on Friday, April 29, through Saturday, April 30.
