WASHINGTON, DC -- Georgetown men's tennis coach Rich Bausch announced today that the outcome of the recruiting process will bring 15 student-athletes to the Hilltop to begin classes this August. The incoming freshman class of eleven student-athletes, along with four transfer students, will join a veteran squad as Hoya Tennis returns nine letterwinners from the team that finished fifth at the 2005 BIG EAST Championships and recorded its first win over St. John's since 1992.
"This is another outstanding recruiting class, in terms of capability and experience and it is, by far, our deepest class since the Class of 1992 that helped us win the 1990 BIG EAST Championship," comments head coach Bausch. "This group will make an immediate impact, and will bolster the Hoya effort to reach the post-season for the second straight year. These student-athletes will strengthen our doubles line-up, the depth of our singles ladder, and most important, make our practice sessions ultra-competitive. And their academic capabilities will complement our continued high achievement as we continue to have nearly 50% of our team annually win ITA National Academic All American honors (GPA >3.5)."
