Georgetown alumnus Alonzo Mourning's ('92) "Zo's Summer Groove" sponsored by Tyson and Pepsi raised half of a million dollars from the 12th to the 16th of July. Held in Miami for the benefit of youth programs in south Florida, Zo's Summer Groove has been a fixture of Miami's summer hoops scene for several years. This summer activities included basketball clinics for more than 1,700 area kids, a golf event, a comedy show, a gala evening with an auction, a block party and an all star basketball game where more than 15,000 fans watched NBA stars compete.

The list of luminaries who were part of this effort included such names as Jason Taylor, Penny Hardaway, Orande Gadsden, Greg Anthony, Clyde Drexler, Tim Hardaway, Dwyane Wade, Bruce Bowen, Cuttino Mobley, Drew Gooden, Maurice Evans, :Steve Harvey, Adele Givens, Melanie Comarcho, Bruce Bruce, Katt Williams, Arnez J., and Kid Capri.
