NEWARK, DE - Georgetown women's soccer (6-1-1) win their fourth straight game today against Towson (3-1-1) in a 3-0 shutout at the 2005 Delaware Blue Hen adidas Classic. Veteran seniors Shara McNeill (Avon, CT) and Alexandra Hardy (Lakewood, CA) as well as junior Chrissy Skogen (San Marino, CA) all scored for the Hoyas today.
Georgetown played a solid game all around as their defense held Towson to just five shots taken in the first half and taking seven of their own. In the 20th minute of play senior Shara McNeill found net off an assist from sophomore Elaina Filauro (Denville, NJ). The Hoyas extended their lead just before halftime as junior Chrissy Skogen scored a goal off a penalty kick. The Hoyas would go into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
The second half was played by the Georgetown defense mainly. Led by senior captain Ashley Darcy (Coral Springs, FL) the defense held Towson to just five shots taken in the second half again. In the 87th minute of play sophomore Sara Jordan (Indianapolis, IN) found an open Alexandra Hardy who scored the third and last game of the goal to extend the Hoya lead to a victorious 3-0.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jade Higgins (Island Park, NY) records her sixth win and fourth shutout of the season with five saves today.
The Hoyas return to action this Sunday, September 18 for the final day of the 2005 Delaware Blue Hen adidas Classic against Delaware at 2:00 p.m.
