Georgetown Defeats Fairleigh Dickinson in 1-0 Shutout

WASHINGTON, DC - Georgetown women's soccer (2-0-1) take down Fairleigh Dickinson (1-2-0) in a 1-0 shutout today on North Kehoe Field.

Both teams played tough defense from the start and the game was scoreless for much of the first half. In the 38th minute of play, freshman Brittany Berry (Gaithersburg, MD) scored her first goal as a Hoya off an assist from senior Alexandra Hardy (Lakewood, CA). The Hoyas ended the half with a lead of 1-0.

The second half saw a much more intense Hoya offense as they doubled their shots taken to 10. Even with the Hoya aggression, Fairleigh Dickinson goalkeeper Kyla Clark was able to hold off the GU goal attempts earning eight saves to keep the Hoya tally to one. The Hoyas marked a 1-0 victory over FDU.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jade Higgins (Island Park, NY) recorded her first shutout of the year with two saves today.

The Hoyas travel to face Loyola (MD) Monday, September 5 at 1 p.m.
