WASHINGTON, DC - Georgetown women's soccer player Ashley Darcy (Coral Springs, FL) earns BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors. It was announced today from the BIG EAST headquarters.

Darcy has been selected as the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week as she led a Hoya backline that allowed only one goal during a pair of games against conference-foe Villanova (T, 1-1) and Fairleigh Dickinson (W, 1-0). During the shutout over Fairleigh Dickinson, the Hoya defense held their opponents to five shots taken during the game.

Darcy, captain of the Hoya squad, returns from an ACL injury her junior year.

The Hoyas return to play this Friday, September 9 against Iona at 2:30 p.m. when they host the 2005 Hoya Classic on North Kehoe Field. They return to BIG EAST action Friday, September 23. They travel to Rutgers to take on the Scarlet Knights at 7:00 p.m.
