Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University women's basketball team (7-6, 0-2 BE) hits the court again on Wednesday when the Hoyas host the Providence Friars (6-7, 1-1 BE) in a BIG EAST contest that tips off at 7:30 p.m. at McDonough Arena. The game can be seen live at www.guhoyas.com.
The Hoyas, playing the final game of a season-long two-game homestand, will be looking to rebound from two straight BIG EAST losses. GU fell to visiting St. John's, 74-54 on Saturday, snapping a four-game home winning streak.
Providence holds a 27-16 all-time lead in the series although the Hoyas have won the last three meetings.
Georgetown senior guard Bethany LeSueur (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) is averaging 11.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists this season. After transferring to the Hilltop after spending her freshman year at the University of Virginia, the Garden City, N.Y. native is now just the seventh player in Georgetown women's basketball history to surpass the 700-point, 200-assist and 400-rebound milestones.
Sophomore forward Kieraah Marlow (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) has tallied 20 or more points in three of the last four games and notched three straight 20+ point efforts since December 28, the longest such stretch of her career. The Coatesville, Pa. native ranks eighth in the BIG EAST with 16.4 points per game, fifth in the league, making 81.8 percent of her free throws and 11th on the circuit, shooting 46.6 percent from the floor.
Georgetown has posted a 4-1 record inside McDonough Arena and is shooting 48 percent from beyond the three-point arch (24-50). The Hoyas have also made 74 free throws while their opponents have attempted 67 shots from the charity stripe.
