Georgetown Men's Golf Hosts Hoya Invitational This Weekend

Beallsville, Md. - The Georgetown University men's golf team will close out its fall season this weekend, hosting the 22nd Annual Hoya Invitational. For the first time, the invitational will be played at the Members Club at Four Streams in Beallsville, Maryland.

The tournament tees off on Saturday, October 21, with individuals starting at 8:30 a.m. Teams will begin play before 9 a.m., with the final groups taking off at noon. Tee times for the final round on Sunday, October 22 at the same time, starting in reverse order of the first round results.

Other competing teams include Akron, DePaul, Eastern Michigan, George Mason, Marquette, Penn State, Princeton, St. Joseph's, Towson Villanova and William & Mary.

Georgetown has had an up-and-down fall season, but the Hoyas have played well more recently. The team started the season with a 13th place finish at the Mid-Pines Intercollegiate and placed 15th at the William & Mary Invitational, but posted a fifth place finish at the Adams Cup and most recently tied for second at the Big Five Invitational.

Four Streams is a member-owned Club. The 7,100 yard championship course is designed by world renowned player Nick Price and architect Steve Smyers. Mr. Smyers is known for his designs reflecting the Old World traditions of golf.

The Members Club at Four Steams is the first signature design in the United States from the renowned Price/Smyers Golf Course Design Group. The course is inspired by some of the world's best courses and holes. Mr. Price combines his playing talents with the architectural expertise of Steve Smyers, architect of Chart Hills (England) recently named the number one inland course in the British Isles, Old Memorial and Southern Dunes (Florida) and Wolf Run (Indiana). The greens, tees and fairways feature a new type bentgrass that will ensure superb playing conditions year round. The course is set on rolling land with visual drama from many vantage points.
